Full Job Description
As a Staff Architect, you will own the design, architecture, and delivery of critical platform components that operate at massive scale. You’ll work on problems where performance, reliability, and long-term evolution matter as much as shipping fast. Your decisions will shape how products are built, scaled, and experienced across teams and platforms.
What You’ll Be Doing
Own the design, architecture, and delivery of high-impact platform components with a strong bar on quality, scale, and reliability
Lead architectural thinking for complex, distributed systems that operate at internet scale
Continuously drive platform innovation, keeping systems future-ready and performance-oriented
Work closely with product, data, and business teams to deliver end-to-end features, not just isolated services
Partner with non-technical stakeholders to translate strategy into clear, executable technical solutions
Balance multiple initiatives, reprioritizing effectively as requirements and constraints evolve
Conduct design, functional, and code reviews across teams to raise overall engineering standards
Mentor and coach engineers, acting as a technical leader and sounding board
Step back from implementation details to identify system-wide risks, dependencies, and opportunities
Collaborate with engineering managers to improve solution sizing, estimation, and architectural clarity
What We Expect From You
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent from a top-tier institution
10+ years of experience building massively scalable, distributed internet systems
Strong background in designing and operating cloud-native platforms at scale
Deep understanding of microservices, cloud computing, big data technologies, and NoSQL databases
Excellent Java expertise, including multithreading and performance-focused programming
Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design
Hands-on experience with open-source frameworks and modern server-side Java ecosystems
Clear, confident communication with the ability to explain complex systems to varied stakeholders
Proven ability to thrive in fast-growing, high-velocity environments
Self-driven, comfortable with ambiguity, and quick to adapt to changing priorities
Practical adoption of Gen-AI tools in problem-solving and coding workflows
Nice to Have
Experience building data-driven products and insight-led platforms
Exposure to data science and machine learning systems
Hands-on work with large-scale datasets
Experience with Google Cloud Platform
Contributions to open-source software
Understanding of data security and privacy architectures
