Role Overview
The Senior DevOps role sits within a high-performing engineering environment focused on building scalable, high-performance web and mobile applications used by global clients. The work balances modern cloud-native technologies with real-world production demands, reliability, and performance at scale.
As a Lead DevOps Engineer, the role operates as a hands-on individual contributor, owning infrastructure, automation, and delivery pipelines end to end. Close collaboration with engineering, product, and operations teams is expected to strengthen system reliability, improve deployment workflows, and elevate the overall development lifecycle.
What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure to support scalable applications
Set up and evolve development tools, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks
Identify stakeholder needs and translate them into robust technical solutions
Automate development, release, and deployment processes to improve efficiency
Ensure infrastructure and systems remain secure against cybersecurity threats
Monitor systems throughout the lifecycle and continuously improve reliability and performance
Establish new processes and improve existing ones to reduce inefficiencies
Mentor and guide engineers within the DevOps function
What You’ll Need
5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps engineering
Proven experience operating as an individual contributor on complex infrastructure initiatives
Ability to define and implement best practices, guidelines, and SOPs across DevOps workflows
Strong experience with Linux-based systems
Solid programming knowledge in Ruby, Perl, Java, and/or Python
Experience managing databases such as MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
Clear understanding of DevOps and Agile principles
Experience deploying monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Nagios, Datadog, or similar
Hands-on expertise with containerization and orchestration tools including Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, or equivalent
Strong understanding of cloud platforms, with deep exposure to AWS and GCP
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or similar
Ability to automate build, test, and deployment pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI, Azure DevOps, or similar
Comfort working in fast-paced environments while managing multiple initiatives
Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, VPC, RDS, ECS, Fargate, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, WAF, Load Balancers, CloudWatch, EKS, API Gateway, Cognito, SES, SNS, AMI, and IAM
Experience integrating and supporting backend services with Content Management Systems (CMS)
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes
Nice to Have
Exposure to Umbraco CMS and Windows Server/IIS
Experience with CloudFormation, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar tools
Hands-on work with microservices architectures and related deployment challenges
Experience operating in hybrid or multi-cloud environments
Experience automating serverless architectures such as AWS Lambda
Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, vulnerability scanning, and secrets management tools like HashiCorp Vault
Experience supporting cloud migration initiatives
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
5+ years of DevOps experience delivering scalable, reliable infrastructure
Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or Kubernetes Administrator are a plus
