This is a greenfield R&D role – not a roadmap execution job. The mission: validate whether LLMs can perform root cause analysis on real database escalations using live telemetry data. Rapid experimentation, real data, real impact. If ambiguity energizes rather than intimidates, this is the role.

What You’ll Do

• Design experiments to validate whether LLMs can accelerate diagnostic workflows and reduce time-to-resolution on real escalations
• Process live diagnostic telemetry – cluster metrics, SQL traces, system logs, and observability data
• Experiment with OpenAI/Anthropic APIs and prompt engineering techniques to optimize LLM diagnostic performance
• Partner with technical support engineers through embedded collaboration to gather insights and review experimental results
• Build rapid proof-of-concept tools and agents from validated experimental results
• Establish clear LLM accuracy metrics and track experimental outcomes throughout the validation process
• Use Go, Python, and cloud infrastructure to scale successful prototypes into production-ready applications
• Explore advanced AI patterns – agentic workflows, MCP integrations, multi-step reasoning chains for complex diagnostic scenarios

What You Bring

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on AI/ML work
• Proven experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and model evaluation
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or similar languages with ability to learn new APIs fast
• Comfort with large-scale structured data, APIs, observability tools, logs, metrics, and distributed systems
• Demonstrated greenfield experience – building prototypes or R&D projects where the path wasn’t predefined
• Experience working directly with internal stakeholders and iterating based on real user feedback
• Strong ability to communicate complex experimental results to diverse audiences
• Experimental mindset – energized by ambiguous problems and data-driven discovery
