Operations Manager – Steel Manufacturing | Slag Handling, Scrap & Metal Recovery

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead Metal Recovery and Slag Handling operations within a large-scale steel manufacturing environment. This role demands strong operational leadership, hands-on production control, and the ability to drive efficiency across round-the-clock operations. The position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, consistent, and cost-effective execution of slag, scrap handling, and metal recovery processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and control daily production activities related to slag handling, scrap management, and metal recovery operations.

• Manage smooth three-shift operations while ensuring optimal utilization of manpower, equipment, and raw materials.

• Coordinate closely with Maintenance, Procurement, and Customer-facing teams to align production output with operational targets.

• Implement, monitor, and strictly enforce SOPs, quality benchmarks, and health, safety, and environmental standards.

• Lead, train, and mentor Team Leads, Shift In-Charges, and Operators to maintain high operational discipline and performance.

• Track production metrics, analyze operational performance, and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization.

• Prepare detailed production reports, review KPIs, and provide regular updates to senior leadership.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Steel Melt Shop or Blast Furnace operations, or

• Diploma in the above disciplines with at least 15 years of experience in the Steel Manufacturing industry.

• Strong working knowledge of production planning, shop-floor operations, and industrial safety practices.

• Proficiency in computer applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and basic HTML reporting tools.

• Demonstrated experience in leading large operational teams in a high-volume, continuous manufacturing setup.

Reporting Structure
