Lead Quality Engineer

A technically authoritative, leadership-driven Lead Quality Engineer is needed to own quality across a fast-moving web and mobile ecosystem. This is a hands-on technical leadership role — driving shift-left strategy, mentoring teams, owning release sign-offs, and aligning quality goals with business outcomes. Not just testing. Leading.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver hands-on testing across the web and mobile ecosystem as the squad’s technical authority and quality advocate
• Lead project delivery through mentorship and delegation — minimal people management, maximum technical leadership
• Drive stakeholder management by aligning quality goals with business objectives and delivering data-driven progress updates
• Partner with product leadership to develop and evolve robust testing strategies with a strong shift-left mindset
• Estimate and scope high-level testing efforts, keeping the team adaptable to changing requirements
• Lead requirements gathering and regression strategies across all functional systems for consistency and full coverage
• Own the release cycle — scope planning, effort estimation, and final sign-off on deployments
• Be a key driver in the Quality Practice Community, leading all activities and cross-pollinating learnings across project deliverables

What You Bring

• 7+ years of experience as a tactical leader navigating high-pressure environments and complex project constraints
• Proven ability to guide and evolve team members through consistent feedback and technical coaching
• Expert ability to design stable, deterministic, flakiness-free tests across the entire stack
• Proven experience architecting, maintaining, and customising automation frameworks and shared libraries
• Mastery of integrating test frameworks into CI/CD pipelines — GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and managing API/Load testing suites
• Hands-on experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Katalon, and Robot Framework
• Technical proficiency in optimising application performance and detecting complex memory usage issues
• Fluency in reading and troubleshooting HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, or Java
• Expert-level use of JIRA and Confluence for strategic test planning, reporting, and defect management
• Confidence to be a vocal quality champion with the maturity to make risk-tolerant, business-aligned decisions
• Experience with AI-assisted testing tools for test case generation and script development — highly desirable
• Deep commitment to building a strong mentorship culture and healthy team development environment

Education

• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent hands-on industry experience
