Role Overview
The Design Manager – Landscaping & Irrigation is responsible for leading the review, coordination, and quality control of all landscape and irrigation design packages for large-scale airport and infrastructure developments. The role focuses on ensuring timely design delivery, compliance with project standards, sustainability requirements, and seamless coordination across multiple stakeholders.
This position works closely with consultants, contractors, and internal design teams to manage the design lifecycle from concept through execution support, while maintaining design quality, constructability, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Landscape & Irrigation Design Coordination
Lead the review and coordination of landscape, softscape, hardscape, and irrigation design packages
Ensure designs comply with project requirements, sustainability guidelines, and applicable airport standards
Coordinate with landscape architects, irrigation designers, consultants, and contractors across all design stages
Design Review & Quality Control
Review drawings, design reports, BOQs, GFC drawings, and technical submissions
Ensure compliance with QA/QC guidelines and relevant industry best practices
Identify design conflicts and work with stakeholders to drive timely resolution
Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with architecture, MEP, civil, and planning teams to ensure integrated project delivery
Facilitate design workshops, coordination meetings, and technical discussions
Manage communication between consultants, contractors, and client teams
Documentation & Approvals
Maintain design logs, documentation records, and status trackers
Review and process submittals, RFIs, material approvals, landscape specifications, and vendor proposals
Support statutory, authority, and airport operator approvals as required
Site Support (as required)
Coordinate periodic site inspections to verify design compliance during execution
Provide technical inputs for landscape installation, plant selection, irrigation layouts, and water management systems
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of landscape design, planting strategies, and softscape/hardscape detailing
Solid understanding of irrigation systems including piping, sprinklers, drip systems, pump sizing, automation, and water conservation
Ability to interpret drawings, irrigation schematics, and construction documents
Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; familiarity with BIM/Revit is an advantage
Prior experience on airport or large infrastructure projects is highly preferred
Desired Profile
5–10 years of experience in landscape and irrigation design coordination
Hands-on experience working on airport or large-scale infrastructure projects
Proven ability to lead design reviews, cross-functional coordination, and technical documentation
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on QA/QC, compliance, and stakeholder management
